Legend of the Galactic Heroes episode 18: The Lippstadt Conspiracy

There’s a lot of politicking in this episode. I suppose that’s not unique to this one!
Ironically I imagine Bernie Sanders would probably love this show, since it resonates with his whole “young, capable people being proactive in politics” appeal.

The Last Zabi

I talk about one of the coolest characters in all of Gundam, Mineva Lao Zabi, or as I keep calling her, Audrey Burne.

One thing I didn’t talk about is the director’s comment that she would’ve been made moe if the series didn’t sell. Her presence would be mediated by sales, which is still scary. The hierarchical structure of man-over-woman is, despite a nice image of Audrey, still in place.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes Episode 14: Liberation of the Frontiers

In this episode, we learn why Scorched Earth tactics violate human rights, but that said all of this is over contested territories between two different systems of coercion. I mean, the romanticism of frontier life is the libidinal economy of colonialism, but whatever. lol. A lot of us dream of a better life and I’m equally as guilty (if we could even say that dreaming is a sin… but our dreams should be bigger than having a wife and kids on our own planet…)

Enough of my anarchist ways in the comments.

Let’s hope that Yang Wen-Li and the gang survive this stupid war.

ED theme: The first ending to the show lol. It feels the most appropriate.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes Episode 10: Jessica’s Battle

In this episode I mumble through the episode where Yang returns to Thernusen, the place where his old military academy was, and he encounters Jessica Edwards and struggles with survivors guilt, especially when thinking through his relationship with Jessica and his best friend Jean Robert Lap.

There’s also a Char’s Counterattack-esque moment in here that I find interesting to think about, especially in how it contrasts with the critique of the media/political cycle.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes episode 1: In the Eternal Night

Hey y’all, today I start a new series, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and we start with the first episode, because that’s where people start watching shows.

Look at the twp calenders I mentioned. Two different political systems. Remember what the dude from Gundam said? Isn’t this just a Gundam show now? But without the newtypes and the mobile suits? So a better show…

2 calenders

I need to find a better way to watch this because the aspect ratio is all messed up. What is going on.

16 September 2014: To Terra

Today, I review the 1980 film, Toward the Terra. A film that was pretty disappointing because it turns out that you kind of need more than love for a revolutionary struggle.
